Stop the tram, too many tourists

In Lisbon, tourists love the picturesque trams, especially line 28 and its yellow trams in the small streets of the historic districts of the Portuguese city. But enough is enough.

Lisbon's iconic yellow trams are victims of their success... as tourists. RTBF indicates that many Lisbonites snub them. The famous line 28 is intended as much for tourists as for locals, being an integral part of the tram, bus and metro network. However, its old yellow trams have become so popular (on social media networks) that tourists rush to use them and park their cars. However, there are red vehicles, just as rustic, reserved for tourists on the "hill circuit", with an audio guide. But these are more expensive for a single trip!

Have you seen me?

Introduced over 100 years ago, Lisbon’s old trams are difficult to replace due to the layout of the narrow streets in Lisbon’s historic districts. They were mainly intended for locals. But since then, these lines have been besieged by tourists who seek to discover the city by public transport. But for others, these trams have become “toys” for selfies and Insta posts. This overtourism has led to some locals rejecting them. “The tram? It’s not for us anymore, it’s reserved for tourists!”
